Thicc Sky Jam

Monthly Jam Night hosted on the second wednesday of the month at the Camelford Arms in Kemptown.

Focussed on textures and dynamics, all instruments are welcome, the weirder the better!

Houseband backline features drums, bass, rhodes electric piano, electric guitar, acoustic.

Tonnes of spare inputs for synths, violins, banjos, chamber orchestras!

House rules:
- No solos! This isn't a blues/rock/jazz jam. Lead work is loads of fun, but not the focus for this particular night. *Toplines welcome however.
- No slap bass! Put that thumb away
- What would Sigur Ros/Brian Eno/Sufjan Stevens do?

Jam Recommendations
- Play simple - there are often a lot of people up at once so simple parts often translate better
- Remember to drop out! If you haven't stopped playing for a whole jam then you're probably doing something wrong. Drop out, create space, then enjoy it all the more when you come back in.
- Have a go at orchestrating/conducting. Even if you are not playing try leading an arrangement, get instruments to come in or drop out. A little leadership can go a long way, practice some bandleading, as well as playing your instrument :)

At risk of all of that sounding overly prescriptive, it works pretty well with those guidelines and the night generates some lovely music and a welcoming atmosphere amongst like minded people.
