Henry's Groovecard
I'm a passionate and professional drummer based in New York City, with extensive experience in both studio sessions and live performances across multiple styles—primarily rock, Latin, and big band.
I’ve had the privilege of sharing the stage with some incredible musicians, including Francis Dunnery (formerly of It Bites and a guitarist for Robert Plant) and Stephen Harris (formerly of The Cult). I've also toured and recorded with my own project, ClaytonEllis, and I'm currently a member of the progressive rock band Libricide. Most recently, I showcased my drumming in the viral mini-web series Loosies Television, which has racked up over 30 million views. I also do occasional recording work with PunkHouse Records, a small indie label in the UK.
To refine my craft, I studied under world-renowned instructors Ian Froman (Berklee College of Music) and Julius Tolentino (known for his work with The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Christian McBride, and the Illinois Jacquet Big Band). I earned a Marta and Austin Weeks Scholarship to attend the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where I dove into music theory alongside my percussion studies. After launching my professional touring and recording career, I returned to academia and completed my degree at Montclair State University, blending Jazz Performance with Humanities—an experience that continues to shape and enrich my collaborative work today.
